The LPGA today announced that the 2020 Pelican Women's Championship Presented by DEX Imaging has been rescheduled to Nov. 9-15th. The LPGA's official announcement follows:
Given the continued impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the health and travel restrictions that are currently in place around the globe, the LPGA Tour today is announcing additional changes to its 2020 schedule.
The LPGA informed players on Friday that the next five events on the LPGA Tour calendar have been postponed, with four of those five tournaments rescheduled for later this year. The Pelican Women’s Championship presented by Dex Imaging in Belleair, Fla., originally scheduled for May 11-17, will now take place Nov. 9-15. The ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer in Atlantic City, N.J., originally scheduled for May 25-31, will move to July 27 to Aug. 2. The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Simply Give in Grand Rapids, Mich., originally scheduled for June 8-14, is working on a date to reschedule.
The announcement included the following statement:
“We are so thankful to all our partners for their flexibility and willingness to work with us during this very difficult time,” said LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan. “This has been a truly collective effort to reschedule tournament dates and work together to provide LPGA players with as many playing opportunities as possible once it is safe for us to resume competing again. As we watch the world come together in this battle against this virus, we are so thankful for all of the support from our valued partners and we continue to wish for the health and safety of all the extended members of our global LPGA family.”
The organizers of the Pelican Women's Championship understand that there will be questions from corporate partners, ticket buyers and volunteers and we will be contacting each group separately to provide further information. Thank you for your patience and continued support.
