Birdies for Babies During the Pelican Women’s Championship Will Support Newborn Families

BayCare’s Morton Plant Hospital to Receive Funds to Purchase Car Seats

The Pelican Women’s Championship Presented by DEX Imaging & Konica Minolta will donate thousands of dollars to help support families in need as part of its Birdies for Babies charitable program. The tournament, which features the stars of women’s professional golf, will be Nov. 16-22, 2020, at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.

To give back to the local community, the Pelican Women’s Championship has pledged to donate $50 for every birdie scored during all four rounds of the LPGA event to BayCare’s Morton Plant Hospital Women’s Services, located in the hospital’s Doyle Tower. The money will be used to provide car seats for families in need, as well as education on how to properly install and use the car seat. According to the CDC, motor vehicle injuries are a leading cause of death among children in the United States, with proper car seat usage a major contributing factor. “We are excited to partner with BayCare to help bring the stars of women’s professional golf to Tampa Bay and look forward to working alongside them to promote the event and the outstanding care provided by their facilities,” said Scott Reid, Executive Director of the Pelican Women’s Championship. “BayCare is a community leader in Tampa Bay, so to have their support for our inaugural tournament will positively impact the long-term success of the Pelican Women’s Championship.” BayCare is a founding partner of the Pelican Women’s Championship and the tournament’s Official and Exclusive Heath Care System. BayCare is also a supporter of the tournament’s volunteer program that enlists hundreds of volunteers to help run the annual tournament. “We are proud to welcome the Pelican Women’s Championship to our community and appreciate the LPGA’s enthusiastic support of our goal to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our community,” said Lou Galdieri, President of Morton Plant Hospital and SVP/Market Leader North Pinellas/West Pasco. “Their support of our car seat program through Birdies for Babies will help us ensure that every baby born here has a new car seat and parents know how to properly use it to protect their baby.” Visit www.PelicanLPGA.com for more information about the event.
